Title: Revelations on the Riveria
Size: 24 x 24
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
"Revelations on the Riveria" takes me back to the summer after I graduated High School and went to Europe with several classmates. We spent a couple of weeks in Rome, Florence. the Neice and Paris. It was honestly one of the best experiences of my life.
The French Riveria had this sleek sophistication about it... it was certainly a different world than what this Macon, GA girl was used to. I remember my first glimpse of the Riveria and taking out my camera to capture the beauty...a film camera that took about a week to get the pictures developed. Then, we walked down to the beach and there was a little bit of culture shock. Yep, it was a topless beach. It's kinda hard not quite knowing where to look. A few weeks later I got my photos developed from the trip. When I saw the first picture I took of the Riveria, I realized I had captured a little more than I had bargained for. It was kinda like playing "Where's Waldo" but with boobs.
About the Storyteller Series:
Have you ever thought about your life as a unique piece of art? We all come from different backgrounds, have different experiences and make different decisions – each of these layers creating the life that only we can live. I’m celebrating my 40th birthday which has caused me to reminisce on some of my favorite memories. And, I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate than by turning these memories into a series of abstract paintings titled, “Storyteller.” This series is 50% art and 50% story.
